Not directed to anyone in particular, just to the universe...

I love you.
I care about you.
I wish you all the best.
I have nothing but good thoughts.
I live my life in gratitude and happiness.
I am happy.
Things are going well.
I wish for everything I need and rest quietly knowing it will come.

Sweet dreams.
Good night.
Don't let the bed bugs bite.

Conquering the Beast a.k.a. How to Stuff an Envelope

For those of you who ever get frustrated dealing with Canada Post, I have a super cute Canada Post story for everyone.

My cousin had bought some of my destash stuff from me which was really nice - cause I'd have sent her the stuff for free if she asked. So I messaged her and asked if she wanted more as I have tons of stuff. She told me it was all for her girls (8 and 3) and they love crafts so send whatever I wanted to. So I decided to send her ALL the destash goody packs (there were 4 - 2 small, 2 big) as well as all the other stuff she bought.I decided, having just heard of these things, to send her the stuff in one of those envelopes that, no matter how much you stuff in, it all costs the same amount. Turns out these are Xpresspost envelopes and I will be using those more often! (Can you imagine, I've been doing this for nearly a year and this is the first time I'd heard or these magical envelopes?!?)

I go to my post office and (not knowing what they are called, remember) I asked my postal worker (who is this cute little ole Asian lady) about those envelopes that you can stuff and it all costs the same price. She holds up the larges (and last) Xpresspost envelope. She looks at my stash a little doubtfully, but she sold me the envelope. I move around the counter and start stuffing.I know I am being watched. The store is empty, there is nothing else for her to do. The cashier at the other desk is watching as well. The postal worker, asks about the stuff (as it is all brightly coloured stickers and foamy stickers) and I tell her I am sending it to my cousin for her daughters. At this point, I had the envelope filled with all but one package. It won't fit any more. I have to empty it to start again. The cashier wanders over to see what I am sending. She loves it - and we all reminisce about these stickers and what fun they are. I take apart the large goody bags and squeeze all the air out of the large Ziploc bag they are in. The postal lady jumps in to help zip up the baggy. She helps with the second one. Bemused, she watches me stuff the envelope and squeeze the end shut. I look up at her, she jumps over to grab the end and fold it over. The envelope will close. Quickly, she peels the protective layer from the sticky part and folds it back over.

We have won. We conquered the beast. We have sealed the envelope. Laughing, I leave the store.

Hole moley what a wicked storm last night! The sky was just illuminated by the lightning. It was constant and it knocked out the power! The power went off here about 9:30pm went on for about 2 minutes and then there was an almighty explosion down in the river valley (not to far from us!) and the power went out again. It just came back on about 3 hours ago. That and the wind storm! It was amazing. There are downed trees and branches all over our neighbourhood!

Other than that, had a lovely day yesterday. Wade and I went downtown to the farmers market. It was huge this year! I love it so much. Then we went and wandered the City Centre mall before going and seeing the new Harry Potter movie!! It was so good and I totally recommend the theatre downtown to anyone in Edmonton. It is freshly renovated and totally not crowded at all. It was a lovely day and we ended up getting home about 9:00pm.

I was just coming on here to post, when we heard a commotion in the hallways. It seems some of the tenants upstairs had some friends over and these friends started fighting tooth and nail! They may have been a couple - but all we heard was someone either being pushed or falling down the stairs and the girl was screaming like crazy! We called the police and so did another person in the building. By the time the police got here, the fighting couple had taken off. Just as the police were running upstairs though, a couple from up there slammed out of their apartment and left down the other staircase! It was crazy. Add that to the storm and we had a very interesting night last night!

How well do you think you know someone?

How well do you ever really know anyone? You can spend every day a week with a person talking about inconsequential matters, but does that mean you know them? You can read a person's blog daily and still not know who that person really is.

Let me tell you about me.

I am tall. I am 5'10" and I never liked being this tall. As a woman I feel the constant pressure to be feminine and delicate. I am no delicate rose, let me tell you. I am working hard to accept who I am. I am working on loving myself for who and what I am. I am tall, I am strong and I am damn proud of it.

I am really shy and awkward around other people including family members. This may surprise some people. I seem to always have something to say in any situation. I can fake extroverted behaviour very well. I am constantly thinking though, am I trying to hard? was that really funny? do people really want to hear what I have to say? I am working hard to ignore that rude little voice in my head that tells me these things. I think to myself, yes, what I have to say is worthwhile, I take a deep breathe and speak.

I am learning to think positively. The Secret is helping with this. I will not dwell on the negativity in my life; instead, I will think of all the wonderful things, people, love I have in my life and focus on that instead. As Buddha said, "Be happiness itself". I shall work towards that goal.

I have a wonderful, large family. We are crazy and clumsy and happy together. Some of my family I don't know as well as I would like, but as I grow older, I find myself drawn more and more to them. I am making an effort to be in contact with my family, because I want to know them better.

I have amazing friends. Friends are the family you chose and my little family is fun and eccentric and wonderful. I am so happy to have these (and YOU) people in my life. You make my life happy.

My favourite colour is green. It is the colour of spring, grass and life. I can never be unhappy or depressed around anything green.

I got married in the rain. I wore a black cocktail dress with a green shawl and I was so incredibly happy with the entire day. We later went and had our wedding feast in the park (in the rain). We had a weenie roast. I wouldn't change that day for the world.

I love music. Music is a wonderful way of expressing your thoughts; a great way of expressing what you want to say but can't think of the words yourself. My favourite music is older rock and roll. I feel they had a very sincere message with their music. My favourite songs?
Give a Little Bit ~ Supertramp
Stairway to Heaven ~ Led Zeppelin
Learning to Fly - Pink Floyd
Let it Be & All You Need is Love~ The Beatles

It is strange the little things that make you feel like you know someone a bit better. A favourite song or colour. An insecurity bravely revealed to the world. A brief glimpse into the wedding day.

Does this help, even a bit, help you feel you know me better?

I'm a Poet! (and I didn't even know it!) *

So I made a poem in my Facebook status bar - spur of the moment thing - and I thought I'd share it here with you.

(Jasmin _) is living my life, the best way I know how;
Living in fast forward, but don't have a cow!
Where ever I go, what ever I do,
I'll always find time, to make time for you.

Awww. Yes, yes I am a cheeseball. Deal with it. :)

*Yes I went there.
