Big News for Frog Princess Designs!

The first bit of news is that I'm now offering free shipping to Canada and the US! I am very excited about this and I am hoping this will help things pick up a bit in my shop. Without the full time devotion to it I had previously been giving it (before classes) my poor store is looking a little neglected.

The second bit of news is that the Alberta Street Team on Etsy is having a sale! Over 50 shops so far have signed up for this sale and I am super excited by this! The last team sale was a huge success in terms of not only sales, but also in viewership and just getting the team name out there. The sale runs from October 3 to 9 and I can't wait!!!

Stay tuned for more updates!

Just a quick update on my classes.

Math class on Monday went ok. Not great - I need to read up on a few things to better understand them - and I need to study like mad for my first test next week! We are doing 3 tests instead of a midterm and a final. That is pretty good I guess. Not so much pressure on the 2 main tests.

Microeconomics last night went well. No homework (except to catch up) and I understood it all. Thank god!!!

Finished my second bezel set ring Tuesday night and I made the ring waaaaaaay to big, lol. It's even to big for my husband! So I am going to take it apart and redo the whole thing. I may need to buy a new stone for it though; hte malachite is looking a bit dull and scratched. Oops. Haha, I also set the bezel crookedly - so I think it's good that I do that! Started reticulation and tube setting last class too. Me, never being able to do the easy choice (like earrings or a pendandt) decided to do another ring. Actually, 2 more rings because of the way I cut the sheet metal after reticulating it. Now I have to pound them out to make them fit a bit better. Finishing this project next class.

The Weekend

The weekend sure has flown by. I was very certain that I'd have time to update my blog and post some new items in my poorly, neglected shop. Not so. Sadly.

I spent my Saturday driving Miss Daisy - I mean my husband, around. Well, really, just 40 km out of town (on the other side of town, of course) out to paintball for a friend's bachelor party.

I definitely think it is time that man got his driver's license.

Of course, being that close to West Edmonton Mall, one must stop in, just to look of course. I swear. I was just looking for shoes. I wasn't planning on buying The fact that I could find anything I liked in my size didn't help. Stupid big foot feet. So I left empty handed or nearly so, i did happen into DeSerres where I found some nice pearls on sale. :D

By the time I got home, it was 6:00pm and too late to even think about being productive so I curled up in my pj's with the BBC series Planet Earth (love it!) and my jewels and doodled around and made some cute little button rings I'm planning on selling at a booth.

Sunday, well, Sunday we went and saw 9. Very well done graphics, story left me wanting more. Love the characters though! We hit Indigo afterwards and went home. I then did 4 hours of math homework, Ugh, math. Fed up, I eventually abandoned the silly stuff for more silly stuff - chick lit. I love a good (or bad), light-hearted, funny romance. They are the cure to a bad day and math.

Speaking of math, as you know I'm taking classes at NAIT. I was taking math on Monday night and computers on Saturday mornings. Well, computers got dropped mostly because, yes, I can turn a computer on and yes, I do know how to move a file. Grr, that was the single most frustrating Saturday morning ever - not the least because I could have been sleeping!

Anyways, dropped computers and picked up microeconomics on Wednesday nights so I now I have classes on Monday, Tuesday (Silversmithing, remember?), and Wednesdays. Yes, I think I've lost my mind

I am very happy though that I was able to get credit for the computer and English classes that I took at Grant MacEwan so, yay! Two less classes I have to take for my Accounting Certificate! Then I move on to the diploma then the degree. It's gonna take a while, but I'm up for it.

Cabochon setting in Silversmithing was awesome! I now have a very pretty onyx and sterling silver ring for myself that I just need to sand and polish up. Tomorrow we finish and I have one more to set - a gorgeous malachite stone. I can't wait! I'll post pictures when done!

Night all!

Just a quick note to say that the first class of silversmithing was amazing! I made 2 sterling silver thick wire band rings tonight. Next week the instructor is bringing in a stretcher/reducer to actually make the rings we made tonight fit, lol. The one I made fits just right but the other... Well, it is of a much thicker band, so I want it stretched a wee bit to fit my index finger on the right hand.

Of course, it isn't a good class unless someone cuts themselves with the saw, and, what do you know, it was me. Of course. Wade blames my father. Stupid clumsy genes, lol. I am ok, just need a bandaid for my finger.

Next week, cabochon setting! Can't wait!

General Updates

Well, here I am again. The worlds least dedicated blogger checking in. Well, ok, maybe I'm not that bad, but I certainly feel neglectful of you right now. I'll try harder to make time to post.

Let's start back at the beginning and start the update from there.

Wade and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary this past August. August 18th to be exact. He surprised me with flowers at work first thing in the morning. It was lovely, although I think he made our boss a wee bit jealous! (FYI, our boss is a guy!) We were then to go out for sushi for dinner (my favourite) but we decided not to make reservations, because, really how busy would it be? Ha ha, big mistake! We ended up going to 3 different sushi places before we got into one! Right after leaving the first place, the sky broke open and it began to pour. After parking at the final destination, it was a mad dash to the closest door. We rushed into the sushi place and everyone turned around to stare at us crazy people coming in from the storm. Ha ha, it was a lovely day though, rain and all!

I celebrated my 1 year anniversary on Etsy on August 27th. Woohoo! I think Etsy has become a good place for me to sell my jewelry. I enjoy the sense of community and friendship there. My team, the Alberta Street Team, is a wonderful, supportive group of ladies that I am so grateful to have found. Thank you ladies for all your help, support and friendship!

I have been experimenting with some new designs and ideas. These new designs are totally not what I've done to date - usually my stuff is... pretty and ladylike, I guess. This new stuff is quite cute and whimsical. I am making jewelry with coloured copper wire and aluminum wire and buttons! They are really cute. The earrings are being listed on Etsy under a new category called "Holidays". The rings, well I am going to make a bunch of them up and use them for my first table. That's right, I'm going to do a table at a craft sale! Ok, well, I don't know where yet, or when, but I am building up my stock for that time!

This is also the beginning of a new school year. I don't have kids myself, but I am enrolling in night courses again! I began the Accelerated Accounting Certificate program at NAIT last year, but only took one course, Intro to Accounting. I am continuing on with that program this semester and I'm taking Business Math (on Monday nights) and Computerized Information Systems (Saturday mornings, ugh). It's not to bad. I've taken one math class already - I strongly dislike math, urgh. Well, it's all in the name of an education.

It going to take a couple of years, but I'll (hopefully) have 3 certificates under my belt as well as be working towards my Accounting diploma by then, (I already have my Administrative Office Assistant Certificate, I'm working on the afore mentioned Accelerated Accounting Certificate and I am also working on the Payroll Practitioner Certificate through the Canadian Payroll Association. Whew!)

Oh, I'm also taking another class this semester! Luckily, it will be the most fun class of all! I am taking Silversmithing Level 1 that will be offered at a bead and rock store here in Edmonton. I cannot wait for this class!!!

So, I'm going to be very busy, what with all these classes, new designs and a full time job, but I will do my absolute best to post more often, even if it is just one or two lines!
